-
Little Oaks draws from many evidence‑based curricula and therapeutic strategies, with several major approaches guiding our daily practice.

-
Our trauma‑informed care (TIC) framework fosters a safe and empowering environment by emphasizing physical, psychological and emotional safety and helping students build control and resilience.

-
The Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) channels students’ intense energy into positive behavior, nurtures strong relationships and cultivates inner strengths.

-
We incorporate DIR/Floortime, a playful, relationship‑based method that builds self‑regulation, engagement, communication and problem‑solving skills.

-
Everyday Speech provides students with a social‑communication curriculum using evidence‑based video modeling to teach social skills and social‑emotional learning.

-
The Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) framework helps foster students' behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health by creating positive, predictable, and equitable learning environments that empower everyone to thrive. Within this framework, we implement Check‑In/Check‑Out (CICO), an intervention that offers routine feedback and increased positive adult attention, helping students build accountability, self‑monitoring, and relationship building.

Placement Process
For students referred to our program, school district representatives are encouraged to submit detailed referral forms. Our school team reviews each submission, conducts an observation in the student’s current educational environment, and interviews guardians and school personnel. Placement opportunities occur throughout the year, and we strive to accommodate referrals promptly.
